My name is Trần Minh Quân, though most people on the pitch know me as miqas. I’ve been one of the earliest members and organisers of the Saigon Dragonflies Quidditch Club, and have played an active role in shaping the Southern Vietnam quadball community since 2019.
Over the past five years, quadball has become a core part of my life — from competing and coaching to organising tournaments and growing the sport.

For the IQA World Cup 2025, I’m proud to be the sole representative of the Saigon Dragonflies joining the Vietnam National Team in Belgium.
I need $1000 to cover my flight and visa expenses to compete at the IQA World Cup 2025 in Belgium. This is the largest cost of the journey—one I simply cannot afford on short notice while still carrying other responsibilities in life and within the quadball community.

WHY I KEEP GOING
I’ve often asked myself: How much longer can I keep doing this? After every tournament comes exhaustion, injuries, small training groups — and sometimes doubt. I’ve seen other sports communities with funding and support, where athletes only need to show up and play.
But every time I step onto a quadball pitch, I remember why I’m still here.
It’s the rush of the game, the growth of new players, the moments when teammates lift each other up — all of us chasing something beautiful and extraordinary.
I keep going because this community deserves to grow. And because those who once gave me a chance — and those who will need one — are worth fighting for.
WHY I NEED TO BE AT THE WORLD CUP
The IQA World Cup 2025 will be my first time competing on the international stage — and the first time my club, Saigon Dragonflies Quidditch (SDF), will have a representative at the World Cup.
Vietnam has sent teams before, but this is a personal milestone for me and a historic moment for my club. I want to stand among the world’s best, representing not only my teammates and friends in SDF, but everyone who has supported quadball in Vietnam.
I also hope to learn — to see how the sport is played, coached, and organised at the highest level, and to bring that knowledge back home.
For me, being there is not just about playing. It’s about helping my club and my community take the next step forward.

I’ve always played to win — but when I first wore the Saigon Dragonflies (SDF) jersey at the Vietnam Quidditch Championship 2019, it wasn’t about victory. I joined for the joy, the people, and the chance to push myself in a sport full of surprises.

It was my first official tournament as a Beater. Afterward, I traded jerseys with Ron from Hanoi Draco Dormiens.I’ve kept that HDD (APQC 2019 edition) jersey ever since — my first keepsake in this journey.
We finished with one win and three losses, placing third. But more than that, it was the first time I truly felt I belonged to something special. I never imagined one game, one jersey, could take me this far — in sport and in life.
The 2020 Vietnam Quidditch Championship was one of the most emotional tournaments I’ve played. Our team was under pressure — both in tactics and in personal tensions.

Yet we came together, fought hard, and won the championship. It was the first time I truly felt my role as a leader, where strategy and calm were key.
I didn’t trade my jersey that year. I kept it as proof that we overcame adversity through unity.
This jersey reminds me that as long as we play together, there’s always hope.
In 2021, COVID-19 halted everything — even our annual VQC tournament. For nearly six months in lockdown, I was finishing my thesis while trying to keep the team alive. We trained online, recorded videos, and stayed connected however we could.

By 2022, we hosted the tournament once again — this time I was both tournament director and SDF team captain. Receiving our new SDF jersey felt like proof that we had overcome the hardest times.
That year’s tournament was also special: for the first time, I competed alongside the person who introduced me to quadball — my university lecturer, Lê Trần Hoàng Duy.
Though we won every group match, we lost the final — an unexpected, painful defeat. Yet it taught us the true value of perseverance. I keep this jersey as a symbol of resilience and the bond between teacher and student.
The black ‘away’ jersey from the 2022 Asian-Pacific Quadball Cup is my most treasured keepsake. For the first time, our team shared a single goal: to win. It was here I truly understood the spirit of competitive sport — as a teammate told me, ‘It’s about doing everything you can to win, while respecting the rules.’

It was also our first international tournament, facing teams from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and even Europe. While others brought imports, we competed with our core squad — players who had trained together all year.
Before the tournament, we reminded ourselves: ‘Look around — this might be the last time we play together.’ In grassroots sport, nothing is guaranteed.
The semifinal match, the tears, the borrowed cleats for playing on real grass — all left a deep mark on my journey. We finished 4th out of 7. Maybe not the best team, but true underdogs in spirit.
The Saigon Thunder Fox jersey from the 2023 Saigon Major League marks my shift from player to leader. Thunder Fox was a team I co-founded with two friends to introduce quadball to Hoa Sen University.

When the tournament began, we weren’t strong enough to compete alone and needed community support. Midway, my co-founders had to step away — but I chose to carry on, guiding our young players through a challenging months-long league.
It was also the first time SDF split into two squads: Skimmer Dragonflies (competitive) and Darner (development). Though I played for both Skimmer and Thunder Fox, I kept the Thunder Fox jersey — it represented my role as the one who kept the flame alive.
This jersey reminds me that building a team — and a new generation — takes heart, and a lot of hope.
The ‘home’ jersey of SDF at VQC 2023 was handmade — from fabric selection to printing and stitching, crafted by one of our own teammates. Its value lies not just in its look, but in the determination behind it.

This victory was a clear statement: SDF is not only a strong team, but one that wins through preparation and respect for the game.
